UMP recently completed a project for a US-based client that involved printing 3D-printed vortex finders for an inlet cyclone head for research and development.
The new inlet head design was designed to improve efficiencies by increasing corrected recovery from underflow per particle size.
3D printing was ideal for prototyping and testing new designs due to the strict specifications of tolerancing (+-0.1mm), strength, and hardness (20MPa and 60 Shore D).
